Just want to let everyone know of a great hotel in Westport. The Westport Plaza Hotel. It is 4 star and access and facilities for disabled are excellent. My husband and I have been going there for 3 years now since it opened and intend going back again this year. Food and entertainment are A1 and staff are really friendly and can't do enough for you. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for beautiful surroundings and for a relaxing holiday.

Hi Scotlock My hubby, the kids and I holidayed in Westport in August 2007 for 3 nights. It was really lovely. I know the hotel you are talking about as we dined there a few nights and they even allowed kids into the bar/restaurant part in the evening, so aswell as being disabled friendly we found it incredibly family friendly. We stayed in lovely accommodation called 'Hazel Breeze Bed and Breakfast' which was located at 15 Springfield Drv, Westport. The family who ran it were really friendly and despite not knowing of my disability were very good at catering to our every need. Our youngest child was only 4 months old at the time and he settled really well in the homely surroundings. I would highly recommend this B & B also.

As for holidays this year my hubby and I went to London last month for a wonderful 3 day trip there! (It was our first holiday away just the two of in 4 years) We really enjoy the west end and caught up with a few shows while we were there:) We seen 'Phantom of the Opera' (again!) at Her Majesty's theatre, and on the second night we went to the Cambridge theatre and seen 'Chicago' which was absolutely fantastic! Sorry for rambling on but we are theatre and West end show mad!! I don't think London as a whole is very disabled/child friendly. Don't get me wrong, some places are, but with crowds, tube stations (and lots of stairs and uneven platforms within tube stations) and bars/clubs/restaurants not really wheelchair friendly with their seating plans and daft door width etc! Thankfully I am doing ok physically at the moment and would only need my stick on very rare occassion (the beta interferon is helping me lots thank god) so I was able to cope in London quite well. However I could not envisage taking my 2 kids there for a trip until they are older. Or indeed using my wheelchair on the tube, or pushing my kids in their buggy, I haven't a clue where the disabled/pram access (if indeed there was any) was on any of the underground tube trains? The city itself is quite fast paced and the crowds are madness! But as for a 'couple trip' or something and with certain places being disabled friendly i would highly recommend LONDON

Hi Lilo Thank you for replying to me. Oh I envy you being able to go and see those shows in the West End, London. That is something I want to do some day. I love all the musicals and especially "Phantom of the opera." I would also like to see "Les Miserables". The thought of tackling the tube and city is daunting to my hubby and I. Maybe when I get a big win on the Lottery, we can hire our own guides to get us around. Ha ha. Westport is a beautiful town and as you say so people friendly. We are two 'oldies' now and manage to get away on our own. Great you're doing well on the beta interferon. All the best and regards to you and family. Scoltock XX
